LOFT
Our love affair with Melbourne just got a little bit deeper…
It is with great pleasure that we are able to present the first official Aussie Penthouse room review on such an amazing hotel. Crown Metropol Melbourne have spared no expense on this meticulously crafted hotel chain. It is a truly delightful experience on all your senses. From the incredible aromas that fill the air as soon as you enter the complex, to the soothing sounds that gently play throughout the halls, the Crown Metropol experience has been diligently thought out.
Aussie Penthouse staff originate from Sydney and thus we travelled to Melbourne on the 9th of May 2015. The trip was simply the rekindling of an age old love affair with the city. There was no business involved with this trip other then sipping coffees, shopping the boutiques and taking the Crown Metropol Loft for a spin.
We arrived a little early to the 2 pm check-in time, however the hotel staff happily checked us in as our room was fortunate enough to be ready. We were handed the keys to Loft apartment 1736 and were on our merry way.
Walking into the Loft for the first time is an all round sensory experience. The captivating city views and elegant furniture create a marriage for the eyes that you simply don’t want to let go of. The floor to ceiling windows give you a sense that you are soaring over the city and the hotels convenient positioning provides a rare view of both Melbourne CBD and Southbank skylines. Jazz music fills the air as all the apartments three TV screens are tuned to the same Jazz music channel. The whole experience provides the ambiance similar to walking into a high end restaurant.
RoomCritic.com was able to put together a great video on their experience in the same apartment. While not the exact same room, the fit out and finishings are identical. This short video does a great job of pulling together what makes this room amazing. See if for yourself.
The living room is a large open space environment with a modular chase lounge, three seater sofa, huge LCD TV and dining table for four. A marble benchtop desk sits at the back of the room containing a fully stocked bar fridge and coffee/tea supplies. A smaller bathroom is also located in the living room area to the left hand side as soon as you walk in.
The bedroom is a generous size and holds a huge king size bed. There is ample storage space for occupants that stretches all around the entire apartment. Another LCD TV is located in the bedroom for your ‘breakfast in bed’ pleasure. Each side of the bed provides its own desk lamp and personal storage. It is impossible to run out of room in this bedroom.
The Loft bathroom is the one aspect of the room that absolutely took our breath away. You are immediately confronted by an extraordinary large bathtub facing a third, YES THIRD, LCD TV. The Loft apartment is one that you will find you are spending more time in the bathroom then anywhere else. It is truly that spacious and luxurious. You also have dual sinks for his and hers, and an oversized shower
Notable features of the Crown Metropol Loft that added that special Penthouse feeling include-
- Double sided electric blinds, enabling two different shades of cover from the outside.
- Marble finishings, because who doesn’t love marble?
- Jazz music playing throughout the room once you return from your outing.
- Returning at night does not require the hunting down of light switches. The room is fully lit up on your return.
- Complementary chocolate bars everyday.
- Speakers installed into the ceilings. No expense sparred.
- A wide selection of Tea flavours. Never a dull moment at the Loft.
All round the Loft experience was simply amazing and we absolutely recommend it for Melbourne Penthouse accommodation. While the apartment is not specifically a Penthouse apartment, we felt like Penthouse guests the entire time.

One recommendation we have for visitors to Melbourne travelling from the Airport to the CBD, don’t simply go with a standard Melbourne cab. Our journey into the city was done via a cab which charged us $60 in an unimpressive vehicle. On our departure, we decided to risk using Uber X for the first time. The experience was all round better; Travelling in the back seat of a relatively new Holden Calais with complementary bottled water and magazines to choose from. And for this trip, we only spent $50. Please note that we do not have any affiliation with this company, we are simply speaking from personal experience. Get on that Uber band wagon!
It was a pleasure bringing the Crown Metropol Loft experience to our readers, please keep a look out for more in the future.
